Today’s featured art is The Lineup by Peter van Nugteren

This field with three cows laying on the ground with a storm brewing up to the right side with the sun almost still peering around the storm clouds is quite peaceful and restful as a glimpse into bovine life before nature turns her fury loose on them.

The white mat and tiny black frame are a good choice for this landscape - it focuses the eyes on the scene. I see a lot of movement in the picture even though the cows are obviously just laying there not moving - the clouds appear to be captured in the moment of arrested swirling patterns.

The artist describes this field with cows and approaching storm as a surreal landscape - I do not see anything surreal about it - I see this exact scene all the time on my way to or from work but I never tire of seeing them out there either.
