Sandra Idleman
Sandra is a friend of mine - her flower photography is so wonderful - it is like sitting in a flower garden without the bees buzzing around scaring me that I will get stung - my daughter is deathly allergic to bee stings so obviously I never took her visiting flower gardens as a kid. She does love flowers as much as anyone though! Especially fresh flowers and flower paintings. She does many other things but I am highlighting her gorgeous flowers in this review.
Flowers - I love flowers - most people love flowers … even those who are allergic to flowers usually love them - even if only just from a distance
or as gorgeous paintings or silk flower arrangements (do people with dust allergies have silk flower arrangement?) - my grandmother who raised me loved those old, hideous plastic flowers - the only good thing I can say about those things were that you could take them outside in an apple basket and hose them off instead of dusting them - yes I know from experience - every spring that was one of my spring cleaning chores - take her armloads of plastic flowers outside and hose them down to get the winter dust and grime (we had a coal furnace until I was 10 or so) off them so they would be … bright … again.
Disclaimer - I do have plastic dragonflies in my front yard … at least they aren’t plastic flamingoes around the palm trees … rofl
The silk flowers availabe today - I cannot tell even touching some of them if they are real or silk. The only way for me to tell is if I go buy them from a hobby store that does not sell fresh flowers sometimes … the quality is really GOOD today in artificial flowers! Living in Texas, I do not feel a giant need for silk flowers in the house to liven up the winter with color and … in Iowa with what felt like 6 months of on again off again greyness … flowers were a hothouse expense or needing shipped in from somewhere else that could get really expensive really fast to keep fresh flowers in the home during the winter - I used to go buy flowers for my son when he was little from a flower shop down the street - he LOVED fresh flowers in a vase in the house in the winter - I went and bought them fairly cheaply just when they were reduced to get rid of them but still lovely enough to enjoy a couple days.
Sandra’s Desert Flower reminds me of Georgia O’Keeffe’s flower paintings. Can you too see the resemblance? Spectacular!
